The article is dedicated to the actual topic of assessing the impact of the ideals and values on the security and sustainable development. Discussed questions: relevance and formulation of the problem, analysis of the link between “security” and “development” notions, levels of security and development, the notion of “happiness” and its projection as a universal ideal. The classification of ideals and anti-ideals and assessment of their impact on the development of the country is given. The article also discusses the question of recognizing the idols and ideals.
