Abstract
The article is dedicated to the actual topic of assessing the impact of the ideals and values on the security and sustainable development. Discussed questions: relevance and formulation of the problem, analysis of the link between “security” and “development” notions, levels of security and development, the notion of “happiness” and its projection as a universal ideal. The classification of ideals and anti-ideals and assessment of their impact on the development of the country is given. The article also discusses the question of recognizing the idols and ideals. The article was written as a part of the RFBR project № 12-06-00286-а.
