Abstract

Within the framework of the concept and goals of sustainable development, education for sustainable development is at the fore. However, due to the fact that national education systems are diverse in their structure and content of educational programs, it is incorrect to compare the achievements of different countries and track their progress towards sustainable development goals at the national and international levels without comparison. The article provides an analysis of the leading (most “mature” and formed) national education models from the standpoint of sustainable development. At the same time, special attention is paid to Russian education, its characteristic features in comparison with these models, as well as consideration of measures aimed at achieving sustainable development goals in education, which are integrated into national projects and other strategic and program documents of the Russian Federation.

KEYWORDS: education for sustainable development, the concept of sustainable development, educational systems of the countries of the world, classification of educational systems.
