Abstract

The article describes an example of using benchmarking as a tool for assessing the sustainable development of territories. The results of the analysis of some methods (approaches) of measuring sustainable development have shown that the most scientifically grounded method is the International School of Sustainable Development P.G. Kuznetsova. Country leaders are established in terms of the quantitative values of indicators of sustainable development. By the example of Russia and China, the results of the lag in the basic and additional indicators of sustainable development from the leaders countries are presented.
